On the morning of March 30, Shenzhen University held a launch meeting for undergraduate education and teaching reform at the Huiying Building on Yuehai Campus. The event was attended by university leaders including Party Secretary Xu Bo, Deputy Party Secretary and Discipline Inspection Commission Secretary Wang Yuexing, and Vice Presidents Li Yonghua, Wang Yongcheng, Zhou Hui, and Chao Naipeng.

During the meeting, two new general education courses—"University Chinese" and "Artificial Intelligence"—were officially launched. The courses signify a step forward in SZU’s general education toward "integration of arts and sciences, driven by digital innovation."

"University Chinese" is led by Professor Ma Zili, Dean of the School of Humanities, and taught by experienced faculty. The course blends traditional Chinese language education with modern AI tools, aiming to enhance students' Chinese application skills in academic, professional, and creative contexts. It consists of two modules: "Reading and Appreciation" and "Practical and Creative Writing"—totaling 13 lectures. The reading module spans from ancient classics like The Book of Songs to modern works by Lu Xun and international authors such as Shakespeare and Yu Hua, cultivating literary sensibility and critical thinking. The writing module focuses on real-world applications, including lab reports, project proposals, and official documents, while also introducing AI-assisted tools to inspire poetry, fiction, and script writing. The course emphasizes clarity, normative expression, and humanistic warmth, fostering both practical skills and intellectual depth.

"Artificial Intelligence" is open to all undergraduates and designed to break disciplinary barriers, cultivating interdisciplinary talent equipped with both professional expertise and AI literacy.

These new offerings reflect Shenzhen University’s ongoing innovation in general education, preparing students to thrive in a technology-integrated, humanistically grounded future.
