On the afternoon of April 2, the School of Humanities launched the first session of "Humanities Dialogue," a teacher-student tea talk held in the school’s main conference room. The event brought together Yi Ling, Party Secretary of the School; Feng Junhao , Vice Dean; Li Shizhuo, student affairs lead; Ye Kang, Assistant Dean and Deputy Director of the History Department ; Shen Yifan, Deputy Director of the Chinese Department; academic affairs staff; and freshmen counselors, along with 18 first-year undergraduate representatives.

The dialogue provided an open platform for students to raise questions and concerns related to academic development, major selection, credit systems, internships, and career prospects. This initiative reflects the school’s commitment to student-centered education and deepening communication between faculty and students.

During the session, academic advisors provided clear explanations on policies regarding major transfers, credit recognition, and exchange programs. Faculty members also shared insights on discipline characteristics and learning paths. Ye Kang highlighted the hands-on advantages of the History program, including fieldwork projects and seminar-style courses, while Feng Junhao outlined the strengths of the Philosophy curriculum and career prospects for graduates.

In response to students’ concerns about the value of humanities in the age of AI, teachers encouraged students to think independently, engage deeply with classics, and cultivate transferable skills. Shen Yifan emphasized the importance of reading, building genuine relationships, and exploring the world to broaden perspectives.

In her concluding remarks, Yi Ling encouraged students to focus on three key aspects: attitude, knowledge, and ability. She urged them to integrate personal goals with daily learning, build a solid academic foundation, and enhance core competencies in communication and critical thinking.

Moving forward, the School of Humanities will continue to host "Humanities Dialogue" sessions on different themes, strengthening communication, addressing student needs, and fostering a supportive academic environment that supports holistic growth.
